This week has seen the digitisation of 10 ‘Disease maps’ showing reported cases of certain infectious diseases across Manchester from the turn of the century. These maps form part of the larger collection photographed a few weeks ago. Scarlet Fever seemed to be rife around this time.
The on going glass plate negative project is continuing nicely, 3 specially made boxes containing 28 plates in custom made 4 flap silver safe enclosures have been made by Elaine so far, with plenty more to go.
On Monday the 21st, we will be photographing the mammal gallery at Manchester Museum. The original cases that the animals are housed in are due to be refurbished this winter, so we are documenting them as they are now. Come September, we will be constructing a mini studio in the gallery itself to photograph each individual animal before they are packed and safely stored.
