Living Worlds at Manchester Museum

Last night was the grand opening for the new Living Worlds gallery at Manchester Museum. Huge crowds waited outside in anticipation for the opening, and it was well worth the wait. The new gallery looks magnificint. Whilst still making use of the old Victorian cases, the object and artefacts have been reordered and recontextualised to great effect. The displays have been reordered in to a series of 15 themed displays such as Life, Bodies, Peace, Experience and Disasters. The addition of some new objects, including origami birds and neon lighting has given the gallery, which was opened in 1891, a look for the 21st Century.

The Museum has also produced its own, ‘Living Worlds’ App, which can be downloaded free from the App Store. The app contains photography produced by CHICC, you can see the photography in action in our previous blog posts.
