Lifetime of Colour Photographs in Mixed Archival Collections – Assessment Workshop

On Tuesday 17th May one of our photographers, Gwen Jones, attended the a workshop at the Heritage Science Laboratory of UCL. The workshop, ‘Lifetime of Colour Photographs in Mixed Archival Collections’, was run by Ann Fenech who is undertaking this research project as part of her Phd, which is supported by the AHRC/EPSRC Science and Heritage Programme additionally supported by The National Archives.

One of the areas that Ann is researching is the way that material degradation is linked to information content in photographic images. In particular, the point at which photographs are no longer ‘fit-for purpose’.

The workshop was very interesting and raised some important questions, more info on Ann’s research project can be found here.
